Handy information

Not really sure why I bought this, but I got put on the security committee for our synagogue. We occasionally attract crazies and we are in some interesting times. Anyway, I remember the book from the Army, and wanted to refresh my recollection about traps and things, in that such nasties might just show up at our house of worship. Very handy for that purposes. Or for the impending Zombie Apocalypse. Go ahead and spring for the related Boobytrap book and improvised munitions. At the least, leave it in the bathroom to disturb your liberal relatives.

It's scary that this is sold... well, anywhere! Even though it's edited so not to give specific ingredient measurements, its easy to figure out. There is even a part in the section of delayed ignitions that suggests an alternative to the chemicals so not to be detected by the smell of suggested concealed chemicals!!! Definitely a very interesting read, you would not believe how flammable your kitchen is! I still cant believe you can buy the two main ingredients for thermite on amazon and a handbook on how to ignite it...

Edit 09/25/2013 : This book does not provide ingredient measurements, it does however provide ratios. For example your 1 cup should include 1/3 sugar and 2/3 flour. (not actual ingredients)

Great book!!

This book was A LOT better than I thought it would be. Lots of detailed pictures and step-by-step instructions for making all kinds of explosives and ignition devices. Definitely a good book to have and good knowledge for apocalyptic scenarios.

Miller believes that one of the hallmarks of today's business culture is a lack of personal accountability; he prescribes the cure in this series of short stories and personal observations drawn from his years of experience running his organizational development firm. His main point is that positive change begins with individuals changing themselves: "Instead of asking, 'When will others walk their talk?' let's walk our talk first." The result is choppy (39 chapters in 115 pages), and at times Miller's advice boils down to truism and clich�. This is a quick but deep book that explores the role of personal accountability in one's work and personal life. In his own work experience, Miller found that many people look for others to blame their problems and conflicts on. He proposes that instead of asking who is to blame for the situation, we should ask, "What can I do to improve the situation?" Only by being able to ask this "question behind the question" can we take ownership of the problem and start working toward a solution. Throughout the book, Miller (who has consulted for major corporations with his firm, QBQ, Inc.) recounts real-world situations—in customer service, retail sales, personal relationships and the corporate boardroom—and the positive and not-so-positive ways they were handled. Each example reinforces the message that personal accountability and ownership of a problem not only leads to a resolution but also lifts people willing to take ownership and action above those looking to play the "blame game." From responsibility, says the author, comes leadership and greater career opportunities. In one's personal life, Miller says, ownership of conflict can also lead to enhanced relationships and greater enjoyment of daily life.

Wonderful book. My company purchased 150 copies of this ...

Wonderful book. My company purchased 150 copies of this book for our staff and decided this culture of personal accountability is one we would adopt. The book is an easy read and the staff loved it. Within days they were re-thinking how they did things and what they said. We have reinforced this with weekly meetings to discuss the book and ways to encourage those being personally accountable.

A few did not care to read the book or thought it was a corporations way of "making us do more work", which is the I am the victim way of thinking. They obviously did not read the book much....... and I don't think they will survive in our new culture of QBQ!

On to the second book for my staff. So many of them liked the book so much they are purchasing copies for family members, as graduation gifts, and for friends.

The easiest and most useful tool you can give your employees to help them personally and professionally!

Handymen, trades people and QBQ accountability

As.a handyman and carpenter QBQ speaks to me and the requirement to bring personal accountability to each client project. Unfortunately once a week I hear horrror stories about of my colleagues inability to keep their promises to clients.

Trades people (flooring, handyman, electrical, etc) need to re-work their understanding of how a client facing business is supposed to work.

To ask themselves the question (QBQ) every day, Am I taking responsibility here. Am I being honest about the capabilities I have and pass on work I am not qualified to do.

Have I made these mistakes, absolutely, but I learned that I cannot do my best work if my personal life, finances or equipment isn't in tip top shape. Because if I am not at my best my clients will suffer.

QBQ, a great read and worth a re-read

I first read QBQ six or seven years ago. Since then I've re-read it many times, given away dozens of copies, and it's definitely in my top five favorite books. A lot of what's in QBQ is stuff I should know, or in many cases I do know it, but I need to be reminded. I love the simple and short chapters of this book for those regular reminders.

It is a great story becose they alway have a great feeling to them and the story about puppys is great but it is hard to bleive that 202 dogs are missing but still it is a great book if you love puppys then you will love this book!! and mary kate and ashely are great dectives on this case they never give up and if you love them then you will love this story and in this stary there is a lot of mystey in this book so you will love it and it has a lot of deteals ans you should never give up if you are on a case!!!

Mary Kate and Ashley found out that 202 basset hounds are missing in California. The Trenchcoat Twins have an California Adventure finding the basset hounds even their own dog is missing too! Everyone became happy and so are the twins!
